Asahi is a premium cultivar originating in Kyoto, recognized as one of the highest-grade matcha and often represented at esteemed tea fairs. A rarity from our tea garden, Asahi has given rise to numerous nationally awarded teas.

Its cultivation and processes demands expertise and care, resulting in limited yield, but it offers in return is exceptional: a vivid green color, the refreshing flavor of young sprouts, and an umami depth that lingers beautifully.

In spring, after a year of nurturing, the first buds are delicately hand-plucked. These umami-rich leaves are then slowly processed and stone-milled into matcha.

Our matcha are always from a single estate and single cultivar, never blended, preserving its purity and character of the Asahi leaf.
