The Catominium is essentially a collection of hexagonal modules which can be interlinked using our specially designed bolts. Each module can either be equipped with a transparent acrylic dome, a door, or a simple windowed-cardboard wall. With the Catominium, the possibility is endless. Expansion, rearrangement, adjustment, redesign, you name it, the choice is yours.

The idea is to create a cat condo which can be expanded or adjusted depending on the surrounding space. The structural integrity has to be strong. The connecting point between each module has to be stable and robust. Most importantly, the primary raw material has to be cardboard to stay true to our roots and also to retain the soothing property which our feline friends love.

Instead of relying purely on the concept of lamination to form shapes and increase strength, we opted for a different cutting technique which allows us to manipulate the mechanical properties of corrugated board from a completely new design perspective. Using this new technique, geometrical purrfection can be achieved. Once the modules are combined, a honeycomb structure is formed, and the strength is multiplied. The end result is durability on an unprecedented scale with the use of merely three layers of doubled-walled corrugated board.

The Catominium is, without a doubt, proof that cardboard furniture has gone from an artistic concept to a firm reality.
