Kunzea honey is only available in the most remote forest areas in the north-eastern tip of Tasmania, including Flinders Island. The Kunzea tree is a rare genus of plants that is native to Australasia and the cooler coastal areas of Australia. It is a member of the Myrtaceae (Myrtle family).

This local honey is made from the nectar of the Kunzea ambigua tree, which is one of Tasmania's rarest honeys as it can only be harvested once a year, and the amount of honey collected is mostly small. On average, it is around five times less than other types of native honey. Kunzea honey has been known by natives for thousands of years for its outstanding anti-bacterial properties, anti microbial, Anti-inflammatory, soothing and relieves nasal congestion. Especially, it helps relieve skin irritation and muscle aches.
